Born May 8, 1884, he served as a Senator from Missouri, as Vice President, and following the death of Franklin D. Roosevelt, as President of the United States during the last months of World War II. He was the Commander-in-Chief who dropped the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
President Truman died on December 26, 1972.
