National Arts & Humanities Month grew out of National Arts Week, the National Endowment for the Arts, and Americans for the Arts started in 1985.
In 1993 this event became a monthly awareness campaign focusing on the importance of culture in America. In 2015 the White House issued a Presidential Proclamation supporting the month.
