Of course the term ‘old’ is debatable. Fifty is only old if you’re under 40!
What does spunky mean? The word was first used in 1786 and according to Webster’s, it describes a person whom is courageous, with attitude, high-spirited and energetic. The word “Broad” was first used in 1659 though not to refer to a woman. This use appeared in English slang during the early 20th century and was often used as a derogatory term for common women of the lower classes. In the context used for Spunky Old Broads Month, it’s meant to be cheeky and defiant.

This event was created by Dr. Gayle Carson, lifestyle coach and media personality to celebrate personal reinvention and living life to its fullest. Her practice mentors individuals so that they not only survive but flourish and reinvent themselves personally and professionally.
