DESCRIPTION:
Ganga Saptami (Ganga Jayanti / Ganga Pujan) is devoted to the goddess Ganga who represents happiness, fame and salvation. If one is able to arise and bathe in the Ganges river on this day, that event is seen as highly auspicious. Garlands are floated upon the river and at sundown the Ganga Aarti, a devotional service in which wicks soaked in butter are placed in bowls, lit and offered to the gods.
