Gold Star Mother's and Family's Day is proclaimed by Presidents each year to honor the mothers and families of American men and women serving in the US Armed Forces who died or were wounded in service to their country.
It honors the strength, determination, and sacrifices of those families that have to endure the temporal or sometimes - permanent - loss of their loved ones for the future of the United States of America.
