During Happiness Happens Month in the United States, August 8 is set aside as Happiness Happens Day, the first of which was in 1999.
"Celebrating happiness doesn't mean you're never unhappy," says Society Founder Pamela Gail Johnson. "Life is a mixture of good and bad events and moments."
Promotions include social media, where Happy-a-Thon Ambassadors volunteer to send five happy social media messages that day.
