DESCRIPTION:
International Fibonacci Day honors one of the most influential mathematicians, Leonardo Bigollo. Bigollo, also known as Leonardo Bonacci, Leonardo of Pisa, and Leonardo Fibonacci, was born in Pisa, Italy, in 1170AD.
When the Fibonacci sequence is written in the mm/dd format as 11/23 or 1-1-2-3, you get November 23.
Fibonacci sequence of numbers (1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, 55, 89, 144, 233) is simple. The last two numbers add together to create the next, a sequence illustrated through the Fibonacci curve, also known as the Golden Spiral. It is considered the representation of perfection.
Fibonacci, translates to "Son of Bonacci."
Due to Bigollo's 1202 publication "Liber Abaci," most societies use the Hindu and Arabic number symbols rather than the Indic numerals used in many parts of the Middle East.
