What do all these people have in common with Walter Plinge, George Spelvin, David Agnew, and Alan Smithee?
They are all theater names, or pseudonyms, for uncast parts or when an actor wishes to hide his identity. The theater and entertainment worlds each have their superstitions and traditions. Walter Plinge is the London theater world's tradition. Sir Walter Plinge is said to have a ghost in residence at London's Imperial College Union Concert Hall. Walter Plinge Day honors this mythical thespian.
