Spay/Neuter Awareness Month is an international awareness campaign highlighting spay and neuter programs implemented by animal shelters and rescue organizations so to increase community awareness and support.
Local veterinarians also offer discounted spaying and neutering at their clinics, or provide seminars on the importance of neutering and spaying. World Spaying/Neutering Month is part of the Human Society International and Humane Society Veterinary Medical Association. Oftentimes, governments employ cruel means such as shooting and putting animals to sleep in solving the increasing number of homeless animals in the community. Neutering or spaying reduces the number of litters stray animals produce.
