As part of the drive for inclusion in definitions of sexual orientation and greater visibility and acceptance of their lifestyle, a community of asexual persons, those with a lack of sexual attraction or absent sexual desire, created IAD Day, or International Asexuality Day. This event was first held in 2021 and is planned annually on April 6. Sexual orientation is defined as heterosexual, homosexual, bisexual, and asexual.
