DESCRIPTION:
The Sunday before Easter is Palm Sunday, the beginning of Passiontide, the lead-up to the resurrection.
The day commemorates Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem in 33 AD, an event that all four Gospels agree on. The name is derived from the laying of palms on the road done by the people as He entered. Today it is customary for the faithful to carry palm leaves into the church to mark this auspicious event.
