Yom HaShoah is Israel’s Holocaust Remembrance Day and a state holiday. It is a day of mourning for the 25 percent of the global Jewish population targeted, detained, and killed under Nazi German rule in the 1930s and 1940s. The Jewish community represented the largest targeted group in the Holocaust and accounted for 50 percent of all victims.
