National Go Topless Day is a one-day celebration to support women who reserve the right to go topless in public as means to force gender equality. It falls on the Sunday before August 26. In 1920, this was the day women gained the right to vote in the US.
Created in 2007 by Claude Vorilhon's Nevada-based GoTopless, women are encouraged not to wear shirts and bras, and men are encouraged to wear brassieres.
Vorilhon is also the leader of the Raël, a UFO religion.
