February 10, 1957 is when the Africa Cup of Nations became a reality. The first series was won by Egypt. The founding members are Egypt, Sudan, Ethiopia and South Africa. Today membership includes 54 Associations, the secretariat is based in Egypt.
This series of football competitions (soccer) in the African nations occurs on an annual basis.
