DESCRIPTION:
Ninjas existed in feudal Japan (12th - 19th centuries) and were spies, similar to national spy organizations today, including MI-6, Mossad, and the CIA.
Day of the Ninja celebrates this early form of organized espionage, believed to have originated in or around 1185 AD.
Technically, this is a spoof holiday. December 5, 2003, marked the release of Tom Cruise's film "The Last Samurai," the reason the parody company Ninja Burger chose this date. The event has grown in popularity, with people dressing as ninjas to celebrate.
