Pledge of Allegiance Day marks the anniversary of Congress’ recognition of the US Pledge of allegiance on December 28, 1945.
The pledge was penned in August 1892 by minister Francis Bellamy. The original version was:
I pledge allegiance to my Flag and the Republic for which it stands, one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

The version adopted by the US Congress was:
I pledge allegiance;
To the flag;
Of the United States of America;
And to this Republic;
For which it stands;
One nation;
[Under God]
Indivisible;
With Liberty and Justice for all.
