International Plastic Bag Free Day raises awareness of the ill effects of plastic bags on the environment.
Today, people choose paper over plastic or purchase reusable grocery bags. There is also a concentrated effort to clean up parks and public spaces from all types of waste, including plastic bags.
Zero Waste Europe and GAIA organize this global campaign upon an idea from the Fundació Prevenció de Residus I Consum.
