DESCRIPTION:
Transgender people are those who through operations and hormones change the sex they were born into, going from female-to-male or male-to-female. A transgender person can also be someone who simply chooses to dress and act differently than the sex they were born with. Approximately 1.4 million people are transgender worldwide. Each year around the world transgender people are attacked and often killed solely because they are transgender. This event was first created to mark the murder of Rita Hester on November 28, 1998.
