The fourth Friday of August in Australia is Daffodil Day, organized by the Australian Cancer Council.
The day's purpose is to encourage hope and support for cancer patients and their caregivers. The daffodil is the first flower to push through the frozen earth. In legend and lore, this bright yellow flower represents chivalry and strength.
