National Pet Cancer Awareness Month sponsored by the Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company was first marked in 2005; the month long awareness campaign focuses on pet cancer, its causes, and its devastating aftermath.
A high percentage of pet owners don't know how to effectively care for their pets to help them avoid cancer. Some are well-intentioned, like vegan and vegetarian owners who choose to feed their cats with carrots or legumes. Others believe treating their furry friends with anything from chocolate to too many treats.
November, leading into the indulgent holiday season, is the month set aside to educate pet parents on how best to take care of our pets from diet and exercise to domicile and environment.
