Postponed 2020 due to COVID-19. The Triple Crown of Thoroughbred Racing is a title that's awarded to a three-year-old thoroughbred horse who wins the Kentucky Derby, the Preakness Stakes, and the Belmont Stakes. The Kentucky Derby is the youngest race, originating in 1875. The Triple Crown Trophy came into being in 1950, but it was also awarded to all the previous winners after the fact, making the first Triple Crown winner Sir Barton in 1919.
