DESCRIPTION:
The Chung Yuan Festival, or Hungry Ghost Festival in China and Taiwan is one of the more colorful festivals in the calendar. The Chinese believe that on the 15th day of their 7th lunar month, the spirits of the dead wander the streets. People feed the ghosts, offer prayers and money, perform puppet shows and burn Joss sticks in an effort to appease the ghosts and insure prosperity in the coming year.
