National Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD) Awareness Day seeks to increase awareness day about the effects of FASD.
Nationwide, church bells ring at exactly 9:09 in the morning to raise awareness.
The first FASD Awareness Day began on September 9, 1999, a day chosen to represent the ninth day of the ninth month, the number of days a pregnant woman should abstain from alcohol.
