DESCRIPTION:
The Sugar Bowl is a collegiate championship football game played yearly on or near January 1, beginning in 1935. It is the country's second oldest bowl game competition, behind the Rose Bowl.
The game gets its name From Tulane Stadium, built in 1926. The stadium sits on the former site of the Foucher Plantation, the first to create granulated sugar from sugar cane juice in Louisiana.
