DESCRIPTION:
The UN General Assembly declared Public Service Day to raise awareness about the value of public service and how it contributes to society. The objective of this day is to encourage young people to explore and pursue careers in public service.
The UN first recognized Public Service Day on December 20, 2002.
Each year since, a Public Service Awards ceremony recognizes the contributions of exemplary public servants.
