DESCRIPTION:

Peking Duck (roast duck), a dish originating in Beijing (formerly called Peking), China, could be considered a diplomatic dish. It was served to then Secretary of State Henry Kissinger on July 10, 1971, and he immediately fell in love with the dish, marking the beginning of US/China relations.

The delicacy first appeared during the Yuan Dynasty under Kublai Khan (1279–1368 AD) and was popularized during the Ming Dynasty (1368 to 1644 AD) through the imperial court.
