Single Parent Appreciation Day encourages people to think about the challenges of being a single parent and to recognize and applaud the fantastic and selfless work many such parents do daily.
Celebrated since 1984 when Janice Moglen wrote an article about her experience as a divorced single mother of two, this day is intended to be on the level of Mother's Day and Father's Day. Today marks the anniversary of the creation of Parents without Partners on March 21, 1957
