National Day of Encouragement gives people the extra support they may need to do what they want or need to do.
Sponsored by the Encouragement Foundation at Harding University in Arkansas, the event began in 2007.
On September 12, 2007, Arkansas Governor Mike Beebe signed a proclamation designating this day as the "State Day of Encouragement." In 2011, the 112th US Congress made it a national observance.
