DESCRIPTION:
To raise awareness about the importance of infection prevention, the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC) is leading the annual observance of International Infection Prevention Week (IIPW), with a series of online events and resources for consumers and healthcare professionals highlighting ways to break the chain of infection.
Healthcare-associated infections are linked to an estimated 75,000 deaths and lead to approximately $33 billion in excess medical costs in the U.S., according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
IIPW is an annual awareness campaign to stimulate interest in and highlight the importance of infection prevention.
