Thanksgiving in Canada is a major state holiday celebrated on the second Monday of October. It follows the tradition of end of season harvest feasts that have existed for centuries in Europe.
First celebrated as a national holiday November 6, 1879, the Canadian Parliament moved it to the 2nd Monday in October in 1957.
