Though not a general election on a federal level, many states will have statewide elections for various positions and ballot measures up for a vote. In even years, both houses of congress have members up for a vote, and every four years, the president comes up for a vote.
Post the Supreme Court decision on Dobbs, and the persistency of the Qanon and right-wing conspiracy theorists, along with a high percentage of anti-democracy election deniers on the 2022 ballot, turnout is expected to be nearly equal to a Presidential election this year.
Election Day is a state holiday in Delaware, Hawaii, Kentucky, Louisiana, Montana, New Jersey, New York, Virginia, West Virginia, Illinois, the territory of Puerto Rico, and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.
