National Doctors Day celebrates the contribution of physicians.
The first Doctor's Day observance was March 30, 1933 in Winder, Georgia. It commemorates first surgical use of an anesthetic agent by Dr. Crawford W Long, March 30, 1842.
Eudora Brown Almond, wife of Dr. Charles B. Almond, decided to set aside a day to honor physicians.
On October 30, 1990, President George Bush signed S.J. RES. #366 designated March 30th as National Doctor's Day.
