Lobster Newberg is an American spin on the seafood classic, lobster. It includes butter, cream, cognac, sherry, eggs, and cayenne pepper.
Ben Wenberg, a sea captain invented the dish and first brought it to the attention of Charles Delmonico, owner of Delmonico's Restaurant in New York City to the manager, in 1876.
It was first added to the Delmonico menu by chef Charles Ranhofer under the title Lobster à la Wenberg.
Lobster Newberg Day is an unofficial food holiday with no sponsor.
