Efforts to promote reconciliation embrace social and financial inclusion, an unending pursuit of truth with justice for all, and respect for the worth of all human beings regardless of race, sex, or faith. Every day some people need help to reconcile with their past, with family and friends. Countries need support to help their citizens during war and national disasters worldwide. These are all things that can be prevented and helped through reconciliation with truth and justice.

Record Store Day, Ntl.(US/UK): April 15

National Record Store Day was launched in 2007. It is an annual hootenanny dedicated to record culture, record lovers, record makers, and their communities' amazing independent record stores and epicenters. Record Store Day, the organization, is managed by the Department of Record Stores and is organized in partnership with the Alliance of Independent Media Stores (AIMS), the Coalition of Independent Music Stores (CIMS) and promotes independent record stores year-round with events, special releases, and other fun things.

Rubber Eraser Day (1770): April 15

Joseph Priestly invented the rubber eraser on April 15, 1770. Later it was developed by Edward Nairne into a commercial product. At first, it was made from vegetable gum, but in 1839 Charles Goodyear discovered vulcanization, thus allowing more durable rubber to replace vegetable-based gum.

Tails for Trails: April 15

Every spring, the Tails on Trails 5K & 10K Walk/Run, organized by NHES, occurs at the picturesque State Arboretum of Virginia at Blandy Experimental Farm in Boyce, Virginia, in support of Spay Today. Participants can walk, run solo, or bring their furry friends for either course. The "Sponsor a Shelter Dog" feature allows people to support dogs from The Briggs Animal Adoption Center that are up for adoption. Trained volunteers walk these dogs during the event, allowing participants to interact with them. Sponsors' names are embellished on the back of the event t-shirt and given to sponsors and participants upon completing the walk or run. Tails on Trails offers a fun-filled day for all while supporting the critical cause of Spay Today.

International Dark Sky Week (IDSA) is an Astronomy event organized by the International Dark-Sky Association. The mission of the IDSA is to protect the night skies in the present and for future generations against light pollution and its negative effect on nocturnal birds and animals. Excess light during the night has the potential to destroy entire ecosystems. Additionally, much of the light used to illuminate cities is unnecessary, thus a waste of energy. High school student Jennifer Barlow created this event in 2003. It occurs during the week encompassing the new moon in April.

Eggs Benedict Day celebrates the luxury breakfast known as Eggs Benedict. Eggs Benedict is a poached egg with Canadian bacon on an English muffin topped with hollandaise sauce. The dish was created in the kitchen of the Waldorf Hotel by Wall Street broker Lemuel Benedict in 1894 to cure his hangover.

Emancipation Day (1862): April 16

Emancipation Day marks the anniversary in 1862 when President Abraham Lincoln signed an executive order freeing the 3,100 slaves living in Washington, DC, one of the first steps in ending legal slavery. The Emancipation Proclamation Act of January 1, 1863, is the final document that ended the legal practice of slavery in the US. However, it would continue in the Southern States until the end of the Civil War on May 9, 1865, and until the final group of slaves in Texas learned they were free on June 19, forty days later.
