Kalbhairava Jayanti (Kala Bhairav Ashtami / Bhairav Ashtami / Bhairava Jayanti / Kala-Bhairava Ashtami) falls on the eighth lunar day of the Krishna Paksha (dark fortnight) in the Hindu month of Kartik. It is a holy day commemorating the birthday of Lord Bhairava, the fierce manifestation of Shiva. Hindus can rid themselves of all misfortune by worshiping Lord Shiva in the form of Kala Bhairava.

World Soil Day connects people to the soil and raises awareness of its critical importance in our lives. This event first ran in 2013. The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations Conference, in June 2013, unanimously endorsed World Soil Day and requested official adoption at the 68th UN General Assembly. In December 2013, the 68th UN General Assembly declared December 5th as World Soil Day. The day came about through the efforts of many people, including the International Union of Soil Sciences (IUSS) and the Kingdom of Thailand, through the Global Soil Partnership. In 2002, the IUSS made a resolution proposing December 5th as World Soil Day to celebrate the importance of soil as a critical component of the natural system and as a vital contributor to human wellbeing. A/RES/68/232 on World Soil Day and International Year of Soils formerly created this event.

Each year, the art world turns its gaze to the United Kingdom as the Tate Gallery awards the coveted Turner Prize, one of the most recognized honors in contemporary British visual arts.

Established in 1984, the Turner Prize is named after the 19th-century British landscape artist JMW Turner.
