Maintaining healthy skin combines lifestyle habits, dietary choices, and proper skincare. Here are ten tips that can help:

Stay Hydrated: Drinking plenty of water is essential for maintaining skin hydration. Hydrated skin looks more plump, elastic, and vibrant.

Eat a Balanced Diet: A diet rich in fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains can promote healthy skin. Foods high in antioxidants can help protect the skin from damage.

Protect from the Sun: Always use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30. Sun exposure can cause wrinkles, age spots and increase the risk of skin cancer.

Moisturize Regularly: Applying a moisturizer that fits your skin type can help maintain its balance. If you have oily skin, opt for a light, oil-free moisturizer. For dry skin, a more intense, hydrating product might be necessary.

Gentle Cleansing: Wash your face twice daily with a mild cleanser to remove impurities without stripping away natural oils.

Exfoliate: Regular exfoliation can help remove dead skin cells and give your skin a fresher appearance. However, don't over-exfoliate, as it can lead to irritation.

Avoid Smoking and Excessive Alcohol: Smoking can prematurely age your skin, and excessive alcohol consumption can dehydrate it and dilate blood vessels, leading to a flushed appearance and broken capillaries.

Manage Stress: High-stress levels can harm your skin, leading to acne breakouts and other skin problems. Stress-reducing activities like exercise, meditation, or hobbies can promote better skin health.

Get Adequate Sleep: Aim for 7-9 hours of sleep per night. Sleep is a time for your body to repair and regenerate, including your skin cells.

Exercise Regularly: Physical activity increases blood flow, which helps nourish skin cells and keep them vital. Blood flow also helps remove waste products, including free radicals, from working cells.

Bonus Tip: Establish a daily skincare routine that suits your skin type, including cleansing, toning, treating (with serums or spot treatments), and moisturizing.

Manatee Appreciation & Awareness Month, National: November

National Manatee Appreciation and Awareness Month falls in November and was established in 1979 in Florida before being recognized nationally in 1980. It raises awareness of the plight of the manatees in the wild and preserves their natural habitat.

Manatees, or sea cows, these gentile giants were once mistaken for mermaids. Manatees inhabit rivers, canals, saltwater bays, estuaries, and coastal areas along the southeastern United States. They spend the winter in Florida and migrate north to Virginia and Texas in the summer months.

Power boats colliding with the animals and overhunting their meat, oil, and hides have placed the manatee on the Endangered Species List. In 1972, the manatee was designated protected under the Federal Marine Mammal Protection Act. By 1979, then-governor of Florida Bob Graham declared November Manatee Awareness Month, thus authorizing the first state-designated protection zones for the marine mammal.

In 1980, the US Congress followed suit with a $100,000 allocation to the Marine Mammal Commission and the development of the initial Federal Manatee Recovery Plan by the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

Mouth Cancer Awareness Month raises awareness of mouth cancer, its causes, and its prevention.

Mouth cancer causes more deaths per number of cases than breast cancer, cervical cancer, or melanomas. Tobacco use is still considered the leading cause of mouth cancer. According to the World Health Organization, up to half of the current smokers will die of a tobacco-related illness, including mouth cancer.

Drinking to excess can increase the risk of mouth cancer by four times. Those who smoke and drink are up to 30 times more likely to develop mouth cancer. Mouth cancer is twice more common in men than in women, though an increasing number of women are being diagnosed with the disease. Age is another factor, with people over 40 more likely to be diagnosed, though more young people are now being affected than previously. Poor diet is linked to a third of all cancer cases.
