Held annually in late August or early September in the city of Breda, Netherlands, Redhead Days is a festival that draws redheads from all over the world. Only 1.5% of the world's population are natural redheads. It is the rarest hair color on the planet for human beings (natural blonds being the second at 2.5%). Varalakshmi Vrata celebrates the reincarnation of the goddess Lakshmi. Reincarnation is a central belief in Hinduism. They're pollinators, control insect populations, and are a vital part of the ecosystem. As part of International Bat Night, there are bat walk events and bat talks, usually near dusk. National Toilet Paper Day focuses on the indispensability of toilet paper. The first time it ever appeared on a roll was on this day, August 26, 1871. The idea of toilet paper first appeared in China during the first century BC, where it was used by the wealthy to clean themselves. It was first manufactured in China during the 14th century AD. However, it wasn't until 1857 that American Joseph Gayetty invented the first version of what is now considered a modern necessity. His sheets of 'medicated paper for the water closet' are the first version of commercially available toilet paper. Before toilet paper, people used a variety of instruments beginning with their hands, wool, lace, hemp, rags, wood shavings, leaves, grass, hay, stone, sand, moss, water, snow, maize, ferns, husks, fruit skins, seashells, and corncobs.
