Lawyers around the world get a lot of grief...just for being lawyers. Jokes are made about them and they consistently rank as one of the least respected professions on the planet* (ranked just above advertisers and car salespeople). Yet, when regular people (or "Luggles," non-lawyer folk) need help writing a will, running a business or avoiding jail time, to whom do they flock? Lawyers! That's right. This love/hate relationship too often tilts to the hate side of the ledger. And that needs to stop. The best part of INTERNATIONAL BE KIND TO LAWYERS DAY is that you're the judge of exactly how much you participate. Here is a brief list of idea starters to get your legal kindness flowing. 1. Take your favorite lawyer out to breakfast or lunch (make sure it's not billable!). 2. Send your lawyer a "just because" greeting card. 3. Send him/her some flowers, a fruit basket, or a cookie bouquet. 4. Switch your ring tone to the "dah-dah" sound from NBC's "Law & Order." 5. Abstain from telling lawyer jokes for 24 hours. Beltane (Bealtaine, May Eve, Walpurgis Night, Cyntefyn, Roodmass and Cethsamhain) is a Wiccan and Celtic neopagans celebration that falls between the spring equinox and the summer solstice. Considered one of the most important celebrations in Gaelic regions, it commemorates the union of the goddess May Lady and the god May Lord. Customs include lighting bonfires and driving cattle between them to protect the animals from disease in the coming year. May flowers are left on doorsteps to ward off evil. Beltane Fire Festival occurs at Calton Hill in Edinburgh, Scotland every year on the 30th of April.

Bereaved Spouses Awareness Month supports f bereaved spouses. Often people don't know what to say to or do for grieving spouses. Sometimes, they turn away and do nothing. We encourage people to turn back and begin to reach out to bereaved spouses by giving them someone who will listen to them without advising them; a shoulder to cry on; and a hug when appropriate and needed. Basically, we want to inspire people to "be there" for the bereaved.

Big Wind Day (1934): April 12

Today is the anniversary of the highest recorded wind gust felt by man in history, a record that stood for 62 years until 1996. It was in Mount Washington, New Hampshire on April 12, 1934 that wind gust of 231 miles per hour was recorded by staff at the Mount Washington Observatory. In 1996, during Typhoon Olivia, an unmanned station on Barrow Island in Australia clocked a wind gust at 253 miles per hour. Mount Washington continues to hold the record for the fastest wind gust experienced by man. The Barrow Island gust was experienced by machinery, not man.

Date is Estimated. The Billboard Latin Music Awards are a subset of the original Billboard Music Awards hosted by Billboard magazine. The awards program began in 1994 as a Latin Music Conference capped by an awards ceremony at the end. Beginning in 1999 The Billboard Latin Music Awards became a televised event on Telemundo, broadcast throughout the Americas and Puerto Rico and Europe. Three special awards, unique to Billboard, are presented in addition to the general awards for best song, artist, album, etc. These are the Spirit of Hope, highlighting philanthropy, the Lifetime Achievement Award and the Latin Music Hall of Fame inductees. The Billboard Latin Music Awards usually occur in April.

The inaugural (2018) National Black Maternal Health Week (BMHW) campaign, founded and led by the Black Mamas Matter Alliance, is a week of awareness, activism, and community building intended to: Increase attention to the state of Black maternal health in the US, the root causes of poor maternal health outcomes, and community-driven policy, program, and care solutions; Amplify the voices of Black mamas, women, families, and stakeholders on this important issue; Serve as a national platform for Black women-led entities and efforts on maternal health, birth justice, and reproductive justice, including African immigrant and Afro Latinx groups; and Enhance community organizing on Black maternal health via community conversations, events, and outreach.
