March 23, 2010 was the day when the Patient Protection & Affordable Care Act (PPACA) was signed into Law in the U.S. Commonly known as the Affordable Care Act (ACA) or just Obamacare its institution split the nation in two. Together with the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act, this act was the biggest and most significant regulatory overhaul of the U.S. healthcare system since 1965, when Medicare and Medicaid were added.

On December 21, 2010, the United Nations General Assembly proclaimed March 24 as the International Day for the Right to the Truth concerning Gross Human Rights Violations and for the Dignity of Victims. The purpose of the Day is to: • Honor the memory of victims of gross and systematic human rights violations and promote the importance of the right to truth and justice; • Pay tribute to those who have devoted their lives to, and lost their lives in, the struggle to promote and protect human rights for all; • Recognize, in particular, the important work and values of Archbishop Oscar Arnulfo Romero, of El Salvador, who was assassinated on 24 March 1980, after denouncing violations of the human rights of the most vulnerable populations and defending the principles of protecting lives, promoting human dignity and opposition to all forms of violence.

World Day to Eliminate Racial Discrimination was created and is promoted by the United Nations (UN). It is a day to raise awareness against racism and help those of us that are struggling against it and against racial discrimination. The day was established in 1966 upon adoption of a program of activities designed to combat racism throughout the world. It marks the anniversary of the 1960 Sharpeville Massacre in South Africa, in which South African police opened fire on the peaceful protesters, killing sixty-nine.

In Hindu faith, Chaturthi is dedicated to Lord Ganesha. Sankashti Chaturthi (Sankata Chaturthi) is observed on the fourth day of Krishna Paksha (dark lunar phase or the waning phase of the moon). If this Chaturthi falls on a Tuesday, it is called Angarki Sankashti Chaturthi. Devotees observe strict fasting during daylight until darshan (sight of the moon). The breaking of the fast is preceded by prayers to Lord Ganesha. PLEASE NOTE: We use the Indian Civil Calendar, which is the official holiday calendar in India, the largest Hindu nation. The Hindu faith has many calendars, each specific to different regions and tribes with dates and celebrations marked by differing positions of the sun, moon and stars.
