Car crashes are the number one killer of teens in the United States and a leading cause of death in countries around the world. Youth-led campaigns like Global Youth Traffic Safety Month (GYTSM) promote safe teen driving through a peer-to-peer model. Global Youth Traffic Safety Month (GYTSM) was formed in partnership with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to support the United Nations 2007 Global Road Safety Week. It was originally called National Youth Traffic Safety Month, but in 2011, the campaign grew to become a global effort and was rebranded as Global Youth Traffic Safety Month. GYTSM is an annual campaign held each May, which encourages youth organizations to engage in traffic safety projects in their local communities. The campaign offers a toolkit for ideas on projects, and youth are empowered to create unique ways to address teen driver safety.

Maternal Mental Health Week: May 1-7

Maternal mental health disorders occur during pregnancy and up to one year postpartum. They can be mild or severe, including deep depression and anxiety.. a less common but very serious postpartum psychosis, which affects less than .5% of women but is always considered a medical emergency. Maternal Mental Health Awareness Week intends to expand awareness of and the conversation about these treatable complications surrounding pregnancy. Annually the first seven days of May.

Motorcycles are a popular form of transportation throughout the world and come with their own romantic ideals. Each year since 1969, thousands of bikers gather at the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist in Paterson, New Jersey, to receive a blessing for the upcoming summer season. Granted by the Bishop, it places a blessing of safety on the bikes, riders and their friends. The Blessing of the Bikes is a Mass and ceremony held on the first Sunday in May.
