In Hindu faith, Chaturthi is dedicated to Lord Ganesha. Sankashti Chaturthi (Sankata Chaturthi) is observed on the fourth day of Krishna Paksha (dark lunar phase or the waning phase of the moon). If this Chaturthi falls on a Tuesday, it is called Angarki Sankashti Chaturthi. Devotees observe strict fasting during daylight until darshan (sight of the moon). Shravan Somwar Vrat (H): July 26

Somwar (Monday) during the Hindu month of Shrawan is considered optimal for praying to Lord Shiva. It is believed that the worship of Shiva during Shrawan is 108 times more powerful than worshipping during other days of the year. Millions of devout Hindus observe the Shravan Somwar Vrat, fasting and performing Pujas on Mondays in the month of Shrawan. The fast is broken in the evening after praying to Lord Shiva. It is believed that those who observe Somwar vrat will have their desires fulfilled and will be blessed with wisdom. In some areas, fasting on Mondays is observed by unmarried women to attract the ideal husband. As with many of the Hindu dates, different dates will show for different regions. These dates are for the Sawan Somwar Vrat Dates for Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Bihar. Bagpipe Appreciation Day honors the Highlands Scottish Bagpipe. A Scottish tradition, the bagpipe is used for a number of events including announcing the start a battle, announcing births, weddings and funerals. On this day, Scottish heritage groups hold bagpipe performances in their town squares or halls. Bagpipes originated in the Middle East about 600 before the time of Christ. Though Asian in origin, this instrument is now symbolic of the Scottish Highlands. The bags are crafted from sheep or elk skin. Three pipes are connected to this sac, which fills with air. Sound comes out as the air is released by pressing against the arm of the musician. The pitch and the chords are controlled by a fourth pipe with nine holes.

National Korean War Veterans Armistice Day honors the soldiers who fought on the Korean Peninsula and pushed the Communist army north of the 38th Parallel. July 27, 1953 is the day the Military Armistice Agreement was signed. It produced a cessation of hostilities between North & South Korea, but did not end the conflict. On this day there are offerings of prayer to those who have fought in the Korean War as well as those who defended the country from Communist invasion.

National Love is Kind Day seeks to create a global movement that assists women and their children escape similar situations anywhere in the world. The day's name originates from the love passages in the bible: 1 Corinthians 13, 4-13: Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant 5 or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; It does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends. As for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, But when the perfect comes, the partial will pass away. When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I gave up childish ways. For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known.
