Pick Strawberries Day in the United States and Canada is promoted by the North American Strawberry Growers Association. This campaign celebrates strawberries and honors the men and women that work tirelessly so that the rest of us can enjoy them. The day chosen occurs at the beginning of strawberry harvest season. Local growers will often hold family picking day to allow children to learn about harvesting and the process that goes into getting strawberries to the table. It also teaches an appreciation for the hard work that goes into simply getting the berry off the plant and on to your plate.

Click-It-Or-Ticket Mobilization is a multi-week period, created for the sole purpose of raising awareness about the importance of seat belts in cars. It falls during the last weeks of May leading up to and through Memorial Day weekend and the following weekend. During this period police officers are extra vigilant when it comes to drivers and passengers that are not wearing their seat belts. Neglect to click it, you may get a ticket. And seriously, don’t you have better things to do with your money than spend it on a fine? Two seconds is all it takes to save a life.

Fear and hate are learned emotions in relation to groups of people. We are not born with these. Use this day to step out of your comfort zone and celebrate the differences that make us each delightful. Promise yourself you’ll reach out to someone on this day who is from a different culture, religion, nation or race. If we all do this to just one person different from us, the world will be a better place.

Go Topless Day*, Jeep: May 21

First run in 2007, Go Topless Day began as a Jeep owners ode to Summer with the first official 'put the top down and get out and drive day' annually on the third Saturday in May. It has since become a global event with hundreds of Jeep clubs throughout the world organizing parades, environmental cleanups, car washes and other events. The tradition continues each year, with every year getting bigger and better. Though it is a Jeep tradition, anyone with a rag or removable top is welcome to join in. This is one of two Go Topless Days. The second in August celebrates women's freedom and involves clothing rather than cars.

North American Safe Boating Campaign is a yearlong effort in the United States and Canada focused on spreading the message of boating safety and the critical importance of always wearing a life jacket each and every time on the water. In addition, the campaign also reminds boaters of the importance of boating safely, such as taking a boating safety course, never boating under the influence, and knowing navigational rules. The annual campaign kicks off the weekend before Memorial Day with National Safe Boating Week and continues throughout the year. This event has also received presidential support and proclamation nearly every year since 1958. It occurs in the United States and Canada.
