Golden Week in Japan is a special period beginning April 29 through the beginning of May. It includes several public holidays. On April 29 Japan celebrates three events: Emperor's Birthday (which was until 1988 but is still acknowledged); The original Greenery Day (celebrated from 1989 until 2006); Sh_wa Day (since 2007). May 3 is Constitution Memorial Day; May 4 is the official Greenery Day since 2007; May 5 is Children's Day. The length of the week officially depends upon how the auspicious days fall within the standard week. Golden Week can end on May 3, 4, 5 or 6 depending upon the year.

Golfer's Day celebrates anyone who has ever held or used a golf club, from the most decorated professional to the everyone who's ever chased balls around a miniature golf course. Dubbed Golfer's Day as it marks the anniversary of the founding of the PGA on April 10, 1916.

Good Friday in Christianity is its most solemn observance. It is the day commemorating the crucifixion and torture of Jesus Christ. It can also be referred to as Holy Friday or Mourning Friday. Good Friday occurs on the Friday prior to Easter, which is based upon the first full moon of Spring. Good Friday can occur ion different days as well, depending upon which form of Christianity Orthodox or Western. This is due with which calendar is used: the Julian Calendar (created by Julius Cesar 2000 years ago) versus the Gregorian Calendar instituted in the 1750s (and created by the Roman Catholic Pope; Orthodox Christians do not follow). Easter and Good Friday usually come a couple of weeks later in the Orthodox faiths when compared to Catholicism and mainline Protestant faiths.

Grain Safety Week, Stand up for, Ntl: April 4-8

Stand Up for Grain Safety Week is a joint awareness week championed by National Grain and Feed Association (NGFA) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) to highlight the dangers to farmers of entering Grain Bins when machinery is active. Each year several dozen farm workers die or are injured when caught in the quick sand of grain bins, which can cover a man in seconds. This awareness campaign supports training of first responders and the supplying of rescue tubes to departments.

National Grilled Cheese Sandwich Month celebrates one of our favorite sandwiches. What kind of bread you use or cheese is up to you. People often pair grilled cheese with bacon, ham and other lunch meats. Today's version of grilled cheese originated with the invention of the bread slicer in the early 20th Century by James L Kraft. Today is the anniversary of the birth of the founder of the Sikh faith, Guru Nanak. Born on April 15, 1469 in the Punjab village of Talwandy, he was part of a simple Hindu family. Guru Nanak spent his life spreading the words of reform and challenging the existing religious dogmas and tenants, thus successfully laying the foundations of Sikhism.
