Let's dive into events 13-21 with the glaciers...

Glaciers are massive, slow-moving rivers of ice formed from compacted layers of snow. Over many years, the weight of accumulated snow compresses and turns into dense ice. Glaciers form in areas where more snow falls in winter than melts in summer. As snow accumulates, it compresses into ice, and the glacier flows outward under its weight.
The rapid loss of glaciers is disrupting ecosystems, affecting biodiversity, and contributing to natural disasters like floods and landslides. Glaciers are crucial freshwater reservoirs that supply water to rivers and lakes, especially during dry seasons and are vital for agriculture, drinking water, and hydropower.
The International Year of Glaciers' Preservation raises awareness and mobilizes action to protect these vital ice formations, which are crucial for the planet's ecological balance and human well-being. This year-long advocacy seeks to educate the public and policymakers about the importance of glaciers and the urgent need to protect them. Likewise, it encourages scientific research to better understand climate change's impacts on glaciers and develop strategies for their preservation while mobilizing understanding of climate change's impacts on glaciers' better resources and support for conservation efforts aimed at protecting glaciers and mitigating the effects of their melt.

The International Year of Quantum Science and Technology is a time to explore and share ideas about how tiny particles and energy work and how this can lead to amazing new tools and discoveries. It encourages people worldwide to work together, study, and learn about quantum science and quantum technology, providing security in knowledge and hope for the future.
QUANTUM SCIENCE is about understanding how the tiniest pieces of the universe—like atoms and even smaller particles—behave. These particles don’t always follow the usual rules of physics we see in everyday life. Instead, they can do surprising things, like being in two places simultaneously (superposition) or staying connected even when far apart (entanglement).
QUANTUM TECHNOLOGY uses these special rules to create powerful new inventions. For example:
Quantum computers solve challenging problems much faster than regular computers.
Quantum communication sends information in a super-secure way.
Quantum sensing allows us to measure things very accurately.
The International Year of Quantum Science and Technology is about helping people understand quantum science, encouraging research, and bringing countries together to share ideas and ensure everyone feels included in tomorrow's tech by demonstrating how quantum tech and science can improve life for everyone around the world.

Solar Cycle 25 will peak in July 2025. The Sun goes through cycles that last about 11 years. These cycles include changes in the Sun's activity, like the number of sunspots, which are dark spots on its surface. The Earth is currently in Solar Cycle 25, which started in December 2019. Its July peak means the Sun will be active, leading to events like solar flares and storms.
SOLAR STORMS happen when the Sun releases increased energy and charged particles into space. These can affect Earth by:
Messing with technology: Solar storms can disrupt GPS and satellites and may cause blackouts.
Affecting space and air travel: Astronauts and high-altitude flights may face higher radiation.
Interrupting radios: Communication can become more challenging for planes, ships, and emergency teams.
Creating beautiful auroras: Northern and Southern Lights may appear in more places.
TO PREPARE, people and businesses can:
Protect power grids and satellites.
Have backup plans for communication.
Stay updated with space weather forecasts.
The strength of Solar Cycle 25 is forecasted to be stronger than previous occurrences. On the bright side, this might be a great time to see amazing auroras lighting up the night sky!
