About National Down Syndrome Week in the United Kingdom

DESCRIPTION:
Beginning with the third Monday of March, the United Kingdom observes National Down Syndrome Week.
It aims to raise awareness about the nature of Down Syndrome and encourage people and society to treat persons with it as human beings rather than disabled.
Down Syndrome is a naturally occurring chromosomal arrangement that has always been part of the human condition and exists everywhere in the world. Today people with Down Syndrome can be found throughout society, including in high-profile careers like acting and film.
This week celebrates the possibilities rather than limitations of life with Down Syndrome and seeks to educate the public about what it is and is not.
