Today is the first day of the year's season sequestered between the long, hot days of summer and short, bitterly cold days of winter, otherwise known as Autumn (or Fall). Fall begins at the Autumnal Equinox when the sun crosses the celestial equator and moves from the Northern Hemisphere to Southern Hemisphere each September.
