THE FATHER OF THE GRAPHIC NOVEL
WILL EISNER
Will Eisner Week is an annual celebration promoting comics, graphic novel literacy, free speech, and the legacy of Will Eisner (March 6, 1917 - January 3, 2005). Eisner pioneered the use of graphic novels to teach complex subjects. He's best known for "The Spirit" (the 1940s), "A Contract with God and Other Tenement Stories" (1978), and "The Plot: The Secret Story of The Protocols of the Elders of Zion" (2005).
This week, which includes his birthday, honors his contributions to the graphic novel—annually celebrated since 2010.
