About the Igbo-Ora World Twins Festival

DESCRIPTION:
Double trouble and double fun, the annual World Twins Festival in Igbo-Ora, Nigeria, hosts over one thousand pairs of twins, many in matching outfits. Igbo-Ora has an unusually high birth rate for twins, and doctors are curious if diet or genetically passed-on hormone levels create this unique situation. Whatever the cause, Igbo-Ora is twice as fun, with international twins arriving to join the twins of Igbo-Ora each year.
The timing of this event can vary wildly each year, occurring during the Spring, Summer, or Fall. The actual date is declared approximately six weeks before the event begins, and the festival is usually a week long. Contact the town organizers prior to making travel plans and verify the date.
