Hundreds of children, parents, businesses, and community leaders come together each year for local events raising awareness of Lights On Afterschool. The event focuses on the achievements of students in their after-school activities. It draws attention to the need for more after-school programs as many children are unsupervised at the end of the day, placing them at risk.
Organized by the Afterschool Alliance, Lights On Afterschool has been observed annually since 2000.
