DESCRIPTION:
Mauni Amavas (Mauni Amavasya) commemorates of the birthday of Manu Rishi in the Hindu faith. Rituals include bathing in holy rivers to promote prosperity. A Maun (silent) Vrat is observed on this day to quiet all senses. Homas, giving to charity and meditation are other activities performed, which are believed to remove sins and vanquish enemies.
